London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. You can spend a huge amount of money however some things are free. So today I share with you my favourite free things to do in London.
My favourite thing on a city trip is walking because you discover a lot more than by taking the tube. Moreover walking is free and great for your body. My favourite walks in London is the South Bank walk. Close to the Thames there are many landmarks like Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tate Modern, the Tower and Tower Bridge…
Free Walking Tours
There are many organisations which offer free walking tours all over London. You can book them online on their homepage. The tours are free but you can give the guide at the end of the tour a tip. The concept is that you just pay so much that you think the tour was worth. My favourite free walking tour is a street art tour in the East End.
London has a great skyline – so it is nice to have some really great viewpoints.
In Regent’s Park you can find the Primrose Hill with an amazing view over the city, looking south.
In the city there is a modern building which got a “Sky Garden” in the 35th floor. It s free but you have to book tickets in advance.
On the south bank the Tate Modern got a new building which has a very nice viewing area on the 10th floor with amazing views over central London and the river Thames. Just take the elevator to the tenth floor.
The entry to most of the museums is free. This is an amazing offer from the city because usually museums are pretty expensive. My favourite museums are the Tate Modern, the British Museum and the National Gallery.
(Sometimes the special exhibitions aren’t free)
